One of the publishing house’s most colourful books was created in the style of 18th-century lubok (popular woodcut print) fairy tales. The lithe, springy “dancing” handwritten text is accompanied by illustrations that are free impulsive drawings created by the legendary Saint Petersburg graphic artists known collectively as G.A.V. Traugot.

In order to emphasize that the story belongs to the genre of magical fairy tales, hand-laid paper of two types was chosen for the books: for the printed text French Vélin d’Arches paper of a sandy grey shade, reminiscent of the pages of an old manuscript, slightly rough to the touch; for the illustrations English Somerset
paper, raven black with a soft, velvety surface.
G.A.V. Traugot created the script-style text, the headpieces and tailpieces in the giclée technique that they then tinted with pastel.

The book includes 42 hand-coloured etchings.
Bright red French linen was chosen for the cover of The Frog Princess. It is embellished with ornamentation and the title designed by the book’s artists and embossed in black and gold, which stresses its folk and fairy-tale character.
Set into the front cover is a bone-china plaque made at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in Saint Petersburg to a special commission from the publishing house. It is decorated with polychrome overglaze painting also made by the artists. The inset is unique for each copy of the book with an original subject that is not repeated. The metal frame for the inset is made of gilded copper.
The book has a storage case decorated with fabric.
